Porter the Penguin
& Isla the Cupcake

For two sisters who make everything sweeter.
On a hill made of snow, where the cold wind would blow,
lived a penguin named Porter who loved lollipops so.
1
She had flippers like mittens and a belly of white,
and she'd waddle around from the morning to night.
2
But one day a letter came carried by breeze:
"Dear Porter, you're moving — pack up if you please!"
3
Porter waved to her friends on the hill made of ice.
She was scared. She was sad. But she tried to be nice.
4
She sailed on a boat past the waves and the foam,
to a warm little town she would have to call home.
5
The town smelled like sugar and cherries and cream.
It was bright. It was pink. Like a birthday-cake dream.
6
And there on a bench sat the strangest of things —
a cupcake! With sprinkles! And small frosting wings!
7
"I'm Isla!" she said with a frosting-top grin.
"You look cold. You look lost. Would you like to come in?"
8
Isla's house smelled like cookies and warm buttered toast.
She had blankets and pillows piled up like a coast.
9
"Are you hungry?" asked Isla. "Try these — they're peanuts!"
Porter frowned. "I don't like them. Not one bit. Not even a little."
10
But Isla just smiled. "One small bite, that's the trick.
Sometimes things that seem scary are actually pretty slick."
11
So Porter tried one… then she tried maybe two…
then she ate the whole bowl and said, "Hey — these are good! Who knew?"
12
They played in the park. They built blanket-fort towers.
They sang silly songs for what felt like ten hours.
13
And Porter looked up at the warm evening sky
and thought, "I was so scared. But I'm glad that I tried."
14
Because sometimes you move and you leave what you know,
but the friends that you find make a new kind of snow.

The End 🐧🧁
